The 70th Jayanthi of Jagadguru Swami Isa continued on November 10th with many distinguished guests coming to pay their respects at the Isalayam Ashram and Isa Viswa Vidyalayam.

On the 10th morning, the day began with homa and guru puja, followed by a feast and a public function. Shri. Kummanam Rajasekharan, former Governor of Mizoram inaugurated the function, and Shri. V.S. Sivakumar, former MP, presided. Venerable Banagala Upatissa Nayaka Thero joined by video conference from Sri Lanka. Shri. KP Mohanan, former CEO of JaiHind TV, Dr. N. Radhakrishnan, Chairman of Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Prof. Dr. George Varghese, Former Director of the Kerala State Science, Technology & Environment Council, Colonel R.G. Nair, Prof. M.G. Sasibhooshan and Shri. Gopa Kumar also spoke. Dr. M.R. Thampan, IVPT Secretary gave the welcome address.

Jagadguru also spoke, weaving together several themes from his teachings, including the unity of Energy and Consciousness, the need to re-establish our broken bond Mother Nature, and—to smile!

The celebrations had begun the day earlier and inaugurated by the Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, at the IVPT’s national education conference at the British Council Library in Thiruvananthapuram.

A song and six books were released over the course of the two day celebrations; food and clothing were distributed to the needy; and students of the Isa Viswa Vidyalayam performed the odyssey of Swami Isa.  From his birth to his deep penance to his ultimate self-realization and embarkation on His mission, the drama and dance beautifully captured the essence of his spiritual journey.
