Since the floods began in Trivandrum, the Isa Viswa Prajnana Trust has been distributing food and mateirals to hundreds of affected people in the housing colonies (slums) of Trivandrum. There are dozens of slums in the capital city alone. 

Many houses in the slum areas have been destroyed by floods, most possessions lost or damaged by water, and these too are highly vulnerable to transmission of disease. (See photos below of houses which were damaged by the 15th August floods at the slum near the Trivandrum International Airport.)

Besides work in the slums of Trivandrum, our volunteers have also been working in Collection Centers to send materials by air to the most stricken places of Kerala, and visiting people in evacuation camps on a daily basis to distribute food, clothing, bedding and toys.
